Listening exercises

You're just one step away from the f-test (f-toets). To practise a little extra with the past simple and present perfect we will also do some listening exercises. One exercise is about recognising the past simple and the other one is about recognising the present perfect.

  • You must complete both exercises.
  • You may choose the exercise you want to do first.

Hint: the exercise on the left is easier šŸ˜‰

 

 

PAST SIMPLE: FRIENDS

  1. Look at this clip fromĀ Friends.
  2. If you scroll down a bit, you can see the script.
  3. Copy the text.
  4. Paste it in the form at the bottom left
  5. Find at least 16 exercises that use the past simple.
  6. Change all the verbs (werkwoorden) that use the past simple to CAPITAL LETTERS.
  7. Do you think you found everything? Fill in your name and e-mail address and click on verzenden. You will directly receive the key, so you can check your own work.

 

Hint 1: looking for a challenge? Try finding all the sentences that use the past simple without looking at the subtitles (ondertiteling).

Hint 2: in total, there are 24 sentences that use theĀ past simple.

 

 

PRESENT PERFECT: VARIOUS TV-SHOWS

  1. Look at the various clips in this YouTube clip.
  2. Write the sentences that use the present perfect in the field (invulveld) at the bottom.
  3. Find at least 15 sentences that use the present perfect.
  4. Did you find them all? Fill in your name and e-mail address and hit verzenden. You will immediately receive an e-mail with the answers, so you can check your own work.

Ross: Wait. You gave her the ring?

Joey: No, and I did not ask her to marry me.

Rachel: Yes, you did!

Joey: No, I didn't!

Rachel: Yes, you did!

Joey: No, I didn't!

Rachel: Yes, you did, and don't you say you didn't! He was right there. He got down on one knee and he proposed.

Ross: You were down on one knee?

Joey: Yeah, that looks badā€¦ but I didn't propose!

Ross: Then what did happen?

Rachel: Yeah, what did happen?

Joey: Okay, the ring fell on the floor, and I went down to pick it up and you thought I was proposing.

Rachel: Yeah, but you said, "Will you marry me?"

Joey: No, I didn't.

Rachel: Yes, you did.

Joey: No, I didn't.

Rachel: Yes, you didā€¦ Oh, my God, you didn't!
